Chocolate Lava Cake Recipe

Indulge in this rich and gooey chocolate lava cake that’s surprisingly easy to make! Perfect for special occasions or a delicious treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz (115g) semi-sweet chocolate
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter and cocoa powder (for greasing ramekins)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Prepare Ramekins:
Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder. This prevents sticking.

  3. Melt Chocolate and Butter:
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted and smooth.

  4. Mix Ingredients:
Stir in the powdered sugar until well combined. Add the eggs and egg yolks, and whisk until smooth. Mix in the vanilla extract.

  5. Add Flour and Salt:
Gently fold in the flour and a pinch of salt until just combined.

  6. Pour Batter:
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.

  7. Bake:
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center will look soft.

  8. Cool Slightly:
Let the cakes cool for about 1 minute, then carefully invert them onto plates.

  9. Serve:
Serve immediately, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips

  • Timing is Key: Keep an eye on the baking time to ensure the centers remain molten.
  • Experiment: Add a touch of espresso powder or orange zest for extra flavor!
