Ingredients
- 4 oz (115g) semi-sweet chocolate
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Butter and cocoa powder (for greasing ramekins)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare Ramekins:Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder. This prevents sticking.
- Melt Chocolate and Butter:In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted and smooth.
- Mix Ingredients:Stir in the powdered sugar until well combined. Add the eggs and egg yolks, and whisk until smooth. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Add Flour and Salt:Gently fold in the flour and a pinch of salt until just combined.
- Pour Batter:Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.
- Bake:Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center will look soft.
- Cool Slightly:Let the cakes cool for about 1 minute, then carefully invert them onto plates.
- Serve:Serve immediately, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Tips
- Timing is Key: Keep an eye on the baking time to ensure the centers remain molten.
- Experiment: Add a touch of espresso powder or orange zest for extra flavor!
