How Make The Pie ?

Ingredients

For the Pie Crust:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (chilled and diced)
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

For the Filling:

  • 4 cups fresh fruit (e.g., apples, berries, peaches)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (adjust based on the fruit's sweetness)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pie Crust

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Cut in Butter: Add the chilled, diced butter. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add Water: Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together. Don’t overwork it.
  4. Chill: Divide the dough into two disks, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

2. Prepare the Filling

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Wash, peel (if necessary), and slice the fruit into even pieces.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the fruit, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss gently until the fruit is coated.

3. Assemble the Pie

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out one disk of dough to fit your pie pan. Place it in the pan and trim the edges.
  3. Add Filling: Pour the fruit mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
  4. Top Crust: Roll out the second disk of dough and place it over the filling. Trim and seal the edges, then cut slits in the top for steam to escape.
  5. Egg Wash (Optional): Brush the top crust with an egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon water) for a golden finish.

4. Bake the Pie

  1. Bake: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  2. Reduce Temperature: Lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for another 30-40 minutes, until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.

5. Cool and Serve

  • Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream if desired!

Tips

  • Fruit Variations: Feel free to mix different fruits or adjust the spices to your taste.
  • Make Ahead: The pie crust can be made in advance and frozen for convenience.
